Greetings, earthlings.
Hey y’all.
Let’s get right into it!
Here are three things that filled my cup this week:
1. A thing I love: my haircut
This new haircut is giving me new life and is easily the highlight of my week.
Some of you have probably never seen me, but my hair has been quite long for several years. I usually get it cut once every 1-2 years because I’m a frugal hippie.
Last week I was a few days into an existential crisis when I went to my scheduled hair appointment with Cristine Selvidio. Cristine has only cut my hair once before, but we vibed. I told her about my poor mental state and posed the question: is this a bad time to make a drastic change or exactly the time to make a drastic change? She suggested the latter. I told her to do whatever she wanted.
I’ve heard people say that we store emotional trauma in our hair. That sounds woo-woo as shit, but since leaving her studio I’ve felt 500 pounds lighter. I’m a data point of one and I subscribe to this theory.
2. A TikTok that made me smile real big: this impression of the Sun staying out a little longer because it’s spring
People are great.
3. A song that I loved: This Rocky Racoon cover by Charlie Parr and Nicholas Mrozinski
The next time the sun is streaming into your house mid-afternoon, I recommend putting this on and dancing around a little bit.
Found via my buddy Dan’s radio show/playlist which is always so, so good.
My spring equinox shop drop is on Tuesday, March 19th at 10am!
This shop drop is exciting for a few reasons:
This is my first real “shop drop” in years. I’ve been focused more on building up my freelance work than making and selling my own work since choosing self-employment last fall. Putting this drop on the calendar forced me to make some stuff, and also to revisit old work that never made it off of my computer screen and into the real world. It’s been challenging to make time for this, but I’m grateful that I pushed myself to do it and I’m motivated to carve more time out to make more of my own work moving forward, because…
I’m beginning to like some of the things I make! That’s cool.
Here are some things I made with the help of my friend Brit at Pepo Press:
